Yesterday, I got hit by a speeding cyclist going up a one way street the wrong way. Now I have a mangled knee. It hurts when I walk down the stairs, and the lift in the metro is broken. FMCL

Today, after months of frequently eating out I made tomato sauce, but decided it tasted totally bland. The only thing I could do to make it taste better was add MSG. Thanks China, my taste buds will never be the same. FMCL

Today, I figured out the reason why my Chinese flatmate smokes in the bathroom. It's to cover up the smell after she's taken a dump. She is embarrassed about that and for some reason thinks that the smell of cigarette smoke is more acceptable. FMCL.

Today, I can't see inside the second ring road from my apartment window. It's not even 400 meters. On clear days, I can see all the way to the mountains west of Beijing, miles away. FMCL

Today, I went to Park n' Shop. I bought a small can of Kraft brand shakeable parmesan cheese and an 18-pack of mini tissues. The cheese was 26 kuai; the tissues were 4. FMCL/MCLIG.

On a flight from Shanghai to Moscow, I sat next to a Shanghaiese woman. During the flight, she was constantly scratching her crotch. I thought maybe she was just picking at a wedgie, but then I realized she was going under her underwear and really digging. FMCL

The other day on the metro during rush hour, an old man reading the newspaper turned and sneezed, spraying saliva and mucus onto a young man's face, and went back to reading like nothing happened. The young man was stunned but didn't know what to do except wipe his face with his collar. FHCL
